Storage Tooting Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Tooting in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Tooting is committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity and respect for human rights.
We recognise that modern slavery can occur in many forms, including forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, debt bondage and child labour. We are committed to ensuring that such practices have no place in our operations or in those of our suppliers and business partners.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Tooting has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to all aspects of our business, including our facilities, our employment practices and our procurement of goods and services. We expect every person working for or with us to share our commitment to identifying, preventing and tackling modern slavery.
All employees, contractors, agency workers and suppliers are required to act in accordance with our policies, applicable laws and fundamental human rights principles. Any breach of our zero-tolerance stance is taken extremely seriously and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts or referral to the relevant authorities.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of storage materials, property maintenance services, security services, cleaning, utilities and professional support. We recognise that the risk of modern slavery can arise at various points along these supply chains and we continually work to strengthen our controls.
Before entering into a relationship with a new supplier, we assess their ethical and labour practices. This may include due diligence questionnaires, review of their own modern slavery statements and policies, and discussions about their approach to worker welfare and labour standards. Where appropriate, we prioritise suppliers who can demonstrate strong and transparent human rights practices.
We reserve the right to conduct audits of existing suppliers, either directly or through third parties, to verify compliance with our standards. These audits may review employment records, working conditions, recruitment practices and worker feedback mechanisms. Where non-compliance is identified, we seek corrective action within a reasonable timeframe. Persistent or serious failures will result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Tooting encourages all employees, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking, whether within our own operations or in our supply chain. We are committed to providing safe, accessible and confidential channels for raising such concerns.
Concerns can be reported to a line manager, a senior manager or a designated member of the leadership team. Reports may be made anonymously where permitted by local law, and all concerns will be handled sensitively, investigated promptly and treated without fear of retaliation. We do not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
When a concern is raised, we will assess the information, decide what investigation is needed and determine appropriate remedial actions. Where there is evidence of criminal activity, we will consider referring the matter to law enforcement or other relevant authorities.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We strive to ensure that relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management and contracting, understand the risks of modern slavery and how to identify potential warning signs. Training and guidance are provided to help staff recognise exploitative practices and know how to respond appropriately.
We also communicate our expectations to suppliers so that they understand our zero-tolerance stance and the importance we place on ethical labour practices. We encourage suppliers to adopt similar standards in their own operations and supply chains.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains effective, accurate and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As part of this review, we consider any incidents reported, audit findings, changes in our business operations and developments in legislation and guidance.
The leadership team at Storage Tooting is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this statement and related policies. Any significant changes to our approach or identified risks will be reported at a senior level, and actions will be taken to strengthen our controls where necessary.
By continuously reviewing and improving our practices, Storage Tooting aims to play its part in eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking and to promote safe, fair and dignified work for all individuals connected with our business.
